Our Story
Limerick, named after the birthplace of the company’s founders’ mother and grandmother, is a certified women-owned family business created in 1992. It was started by a mother and daughter (both lactation consultants) looking to help working moms meet their breastfeeding goals while smoothing their transition back into the workplace after giving birth. Though it began purely as an educational and support program, it soon evolved into something more: a creative partnership between company and client that has resulted in the most comfortable, intuitive, and safe breast pump. To date, Limerick's ComforTouch™ patented technology is the only breast pump technology that creates a natural pumping experience for moms. Our ComforTouch breast pump uses a soft silicone breast cup plus our patented technology when combined mimics the baby's natural nursing pattern, and helps mom to be as comfortable as possible when expressing milk.
Our Products
Unlike other pumps, those from Limerick feature patented technology that offers a more authentic compression and vacuum motion, which allows our breast pumps to more perfectly mimic the baby’s natural nursing pattern, resulting in more comfortable and productive sessions. Limerick was also the first company to offer a portable, hospital-grade, closed system electric pump to non-hospital users, greatly decreasing the possibility of infectious particles. Even better, all our breast pumps have the added benefit of not only helping moms maintain their milk supply while away from their babies, they actually help them increase it. Expressing milk regularly is essential for milk production, as when your baby isn't feeding, your body produces less milk. Our Services
We offer both Workplace Lactation and Parent Services Programs. Each addresses the life-changing effects of bringing a new baby into the world. Although always a joy, having a newborn can also be stressful. The Workplace Lactation Program is designed specifically in collaboration with employers to help families achieve their breastfeeding goals, while the New Parent Services Program offers everything from postpartum depression evaluations, to new parent coaching, to induced-lactation consultations. Both the program and services help to make the workplace transition before, during, and after birth as seamless as possible. From an employer's perspective, investing in our program will save them money, as breastfeeding moms reduce both their and employers' insurance costs.
